What is a normal day like?
Right when you wake up, you must check your blood sugar to insure that its not too high and not too low. If your blood sugar is too low, you want to get up and go eat something. If your blood sugar is too high, you want to inject yourself with insulin. After you get out of bed, you want to eat a healthy breakfast high in fiber and low in lipids and sugars. Typically a nice whole grain cereal with non fat milk and a fruit is a good breakfast. Eggs are also a great choice. After you eat breakfast, you get ready for the day like any other person would. Once it is lunch time you have to make sure that you eat something with proteins and fibers. A nice turkey sandwich on wheat bread with a granola bar should do. After lunch you should check your blood sugar levles again just to make sure it is at a regulated level. Then you should attempt to get some type of exercise for 30 minutes. Go back to work or what your regular day usually consists of. After that you go home for dinner. You want your dinner to consist of a lean meat such as turkey or chicken with the skin removed or fish which is even better. You should have a type of vegetable low in sodium (spinach, carrots, broccoli), and a decent serving of carbohydrates (such as mashed potatoes) no more than 8 ounces. Instead of soda you should drink something lower in sugar. After dinner you want to avoid eating sugary desserts like cake and cookies. Once you are finished eating and after getting ready for bed, you should check your blood sugar once more before going to sleep.
